UNIFORM POLICY

Basic Uniform: JK – 5TH Grade

All students must come to school each day in the basic uniform.

Pants - Navy blue twill pants or shorts

Belt - Navy, black or brown (belts are optional)

Skirt/Jumper - Christopher plaid only. Bicycle shorts (navy or black) must be worn

under a skirt or jumper, but may not be longer than the skirt or jumper.

Skort - Christopher plaid or navy blue

Shirt - Knit polo or turtleneck - white or forest green - plain or with school logo

P.E. T-Shirt - Each child in grades JK – 5th will receive a P.E. T-shirt. This shirt may

only be worn on the day your child has P.E. Replacement shirts may be purchased

through the school office.

Socks - Socks may be white, navy or forest green and must be worn with all footwear.

Socks cannot contain logos or decorations. Girl’s anklets may have plain white lace.

Knee socks are acceptable. Tights are acceptable in forest green, white or navy.

Leggings are not acceptable.

Shoes

• Shoes must be of the following colors: gray, tan, beige, black, brown, navy blue

or white, or a combination of those colors. No other colors are acceptable

including stripes, logos, laces, and decorations.

• “Character” shoes (i.e. Pokeman, Hot Wheels, Barbie, Scooby Doo, Power Puff

Girls, etc.) are not allowed.

• Shoes must cover the toes and heels. No half shoes or clogs. Boots or sandals are

not acceptable.

• Shoes cannot have any wheels. Roller skate shoes are not acceptable.

Sweatshirts - A sweatshirt may be worn in addition to the basic uniform. It needs to

be school colors - forest green or light ash gray, with or without the school logo.

Hooded sweatshirts may not be worn in the classroom. The uniform polo shirt or

turtleneck must be worn under the sweatshirt. The polo collar or turtleneck should be

visible. Cardigan sweaters may be worn in the school colors of navy blue or forest

green only.

Sweatpants - Sweatpants or shorts, in navy blue, must be worn on days students have

Physical Education, and may not be worn on any other day.

Outerwear - Outerwear is not worn in the classroom. Acceptable outerwear includes:

the official navy blue polar fleece jackets with or without the school logo; or

navy blue, forest green or ash gray hooded sweatshirts with or without the school

logo. Raincoats and heavy jackets are also acceptable outerwear.

Hair Accessories - Hair accessories must be white, black, forest green, navy blue,

brown, gray or beige. Hair accessories made of “Christopher Plaid” are also

acceptable.

Size - All clothing must be size-appropriate for the student. Baggy pants or

shredding/tearing on pant leg bottoms is not acceptable.

Earrings and tattoos - Two earrings per ear are the only body piercing that is

acceptable at school. Matched pairs of non-dangling earrings may be worn, if worn

equally in both the left and right ears. The appearance of any other additional body

piercing should be minimized by not wearing any jewelry, metal, etc. in them at

school.

Any permanent body markings, such as tattoos, must not be visible at school, and

should remain concealed by the designated uniform at all times. Requests for

exceptions, based on cultural or other traditions, must be approved by the Principal

prior to the student attending school.

It is the parents’/students’ responsibility to have the uniform ready for each day. A

student not in proper uniform will be referred to the office and receive a notice of

inappropriate uniform. Notices are to be signed and returned the next school day. On

the third offense, parents will be contacted and will be expected to bring appropriate

attire to school for their child.

All uniform components are available (with or without the school logo) at the Merry

Mart, or True Grit Uniform stores. Other components may be purchased at department

stores, (i.e. Mervyns, Target) but all clothing must adhere to uniform policy and colors.

All clothing should be labeled with student’s name – preferably labels sewn into the neck

area or on the reverse side of the logo. Lost and found items with no name go to the

Clothes Closet twice yearly.

Free Dress Days will be listed on the monthly calendar and/or announced in the

Thursday envelope

Scout uniforms are permitted on meeting days only.

What to Wear in Preschool

• Clothing should be comfortable, washable, sturdy, and manageable for the child. For

example, elastic waist pants for those students who are too young to zip and snap by

themselves. Please don’t dress the children in such splendor that they are

uncomfortable about playing in “messy” places like the sandbox, or worry about

scuffing new shoes on the climbing toys.

• Long dresses should not be worn because of the safety factor.

• Children must wear shoes to school that cover the toes and heels. No sandals, flipflops,

dress shoes, shoes with heels or boots.

• Please dress your child appropriately for the weather.

Please put your child’s name only on all belongings. This includes all books,

sweaters, jackets and school tote bags.

• Please bring a change of clothes for your child in a Ziploc bag with their name on it in case of

a toileting accident. This bag should contain the following: Pants-Shorts-Socks-Shirt-

Underwear.

UNIFORM CLOSET POLICIES & PROCEDURES

1. The Home/School Club is responsible for the Uniform Closet.

2. The Uniform Closet will be available only to those students currently enrolled in

JK – 5th grades at St. Timothy’s School.

3. Item Exchange:

a. The Closet will accept donations anytime throughout the year. You can bring

your donation to the office. Mrs. Larson can accept them.

b. A parent may exchange an item if it is done immediately; otherwise, Mrs. Larson

will issue a credit of $1.00 per item for you to use at a later date. This credit is

redeemable anytime during regular office hours.

4. Purchases:

a. The Uniform Closet is open everyday during regular office hours. It will also be

open during “Back to School” night.

5. Condition of Clothing:

a. Clothing that is worn, torn, stained or damaged will not be accepted.

b. Please be sure that donated clothing is clean, and free of animal hair.

c. Colored items must be an exact match to regulation uniform.

d. Pants/shorts must be regulation uniform type.

6. Proceeds of Uniform Closet will go to the general fund of the Home/School Club.
