St. Timothy’s offers a wonderful art program for students in the first
through fifth grades. The children attend art class every other week.
Our art program tries to instill in the students a joy and appreciation of
participating in a variety of art activities. Drawing, painting,
collage, printing, origami, and animation are a few of the art activities
the students participate in. An appreciation of art history and
illustrators are also covered.
In addition, St. Timothy's has adopted the Art Docent program which is
used in the California public schools. Parent volunteers come into JK
through fifth grade classrooms six times throughout the year for an hour to
an hour and a half. The presentations consist of a discussion with sample
paintings in a wide variety of styles which are appropriate for each age,
followed by a hands on project. These art projects are displayed in a
special show at the end of the year.
