Mission Valley Preparatory Program
Mission Valley Preparatory Academy (MVP) is a California nonprofit organization specializing in early intervention for dyslexia. We operate as a school within a school for students with dyslexia and other language-based learning differences grades K-5, through a partnership with St. Timothy's Lutheran School.
Dyslexia affects 1 in 5 school age children. In fact, more than 3 million children in the United States cannot read because they have dyslexia. Tragically, only 5 out of 100 children with dyslexia get the help they need.
Dyslexia runs in families. With dyslexia, the brain circuitry for linking letters to sounds is disrupted, which makes learning to read and spell extremely difficult.
Children with dyslexia require special programs and teaching methods to excel academically and to keep up with their peers in school. Today, public schools do not have the resources to help students with dyslexia achieve academic success.
