Graduation
Last but not least, the fifth graders get their own graduation ceremony.

Learning is not limited to the classroom as fifth graders venture out several times during the year, culminating in a week long trip to Science Camp.

Santa Clara Water District
This trip teaches the students many valuable lessons in water conservation and preservation as well as providing lots information about about the earth above and below us.

Intel Museum
What better place to learn the history of the computer, how a computer works and how a computer chip is made than the Intel Museum.

Community Theater Center Play
Each year the students visit one of the many theaters throughout the community to develop an appreciation for the performing arts and enjoy a play.

Science Camp
This grand finale is a week long of fun and adventure where fifth graders learn a lot about the environment, eat a lot of good food, learn how to climb a rock wall and become members of the “banana slug” club. Along with students from all over the state, they travel to Mission Springs Outdoor Education center in Scotts Valley which emphasizes the Christian faith as part of its experience.

A number of special programs teach fifth graders valuable information which benefits them throughout their lives.

Kids Who Care
The students participate in a community service project during the year.  Fifth Graders clean up a section of Los Alamitos Creek and learn how important it is to keep the environment clean.

Art Docents
Parent volunteers come to the class six times a year to give a presentation and hands on project. Fifth Graders projects include photography, wire sculpture, totem designs, asymmetrical compositions, limner artist portraits, and people in action using torn strips of construction paper.  The students' work is displayed during the school-wide Art Show.  Parents and guests are also invited to come and admire the work of all of our students at the Art Show.

D.A.R.E. Program
When funding is available through the sheriff’s office, students participate in the Drug Abuse Resistance Education program where they learn how to say  no to drugs and violence.
