perform skits and sing songs
related to a specific Bible lesson.

stories twice a month.
Book

This is the student’s
first opportunity to read a

Nativity
Scenes
In honor of our
Lord’s birth, the students and
their families create a Nativity scene
in the form of a poster, diorama, mobile or
other art project.
Mammal

This is the
second grade’s major project
that the student’s must research and report
about a specific animal. It involves an outline,
research paper, oral presentation, and a diorama.
Marble
Jar Parties
For good
behavior, turning in homework, and
nice classwork, the children are rewarded
by putting marbles in a jar. When the jar
is full, the class has a party. Popcorn, Popsicles
and pizza are the prizes.

Learning
is not limited to the classroom as second graders venture out
several times during the year for fun and education.
Nativity
Scenes
In December, the students visit a local church to view over 500
Nativity Scenes, which are made from a variety of materials in
many different countries.
Community
Theater Center Play
Each year the students visit one of the many theater centers
throughout the community where they enjoy a play. This helps
them to develop an appreciation for the performing arts.
San
Francisco Zoo
In the spring, students take a guided tour to further their
knowledge about external adaptations that animals have to allow
them to survive.
The
Tech Museum
Students enjoy viewing and participating in the diverse
exhibits at the museum; especially "Green by Design"
and "View from Space"

A
number of special programs teach second graders valuable
lessons about life and art which benefits them throughout their
lives.
Kids
Who Care
The students
participate in a community service project
during the year. Second Graders
clean up Lone Hill Park.

on project. Second Graders projects include
