Scripture Lessons
(used in worship at St. Timothy's)

Four readings from the Bible are used at each of our worship services. These readings are used by many churches (not just Lutheran) throughout the world and they includes

A "first" reading from the Old Testament (the book of Acts is used in the Easter season)
A Psalm
A "second" reading from one of the letters in the New Testament
A reading from one of the Gospels.

The Gospel reading leads the way, and the Old Testament lesson is chosen to complement it. The Psalm is then selected as a response to the Old Testament lesson. The "second" reading -- the "epistle" or letter -- follows its own path; a single letter is usually read for several weeks to give a general view of its entire content.

Below are the readings for next Sunday (and Saturday evening) along with any special festival days during the week.
