Worship Services
We offer four worship services at St. Timothy’s. On Saturday nights our
Worship Team leads a contemporary service in the Fellowship Hall at 6:00
pm. On Sunday mornings, our 8:15 worship service is a traditional
liturgical service, the 9:45 worship service is a blend of contemporary
and traditional styles, while the 11:15 worship service offers even more
contemporary music in a traditional Lutheran format.
Advent Services
Advent, the first season of the Liturgical Church Year, begins four
Sundays before Christmas. With the lighting of the Advent Wreath, the
congregation prepares for the coming of the Christ Child. Midweek
(Wednesday) services are held at 7:30 pm. and are approximately 45 minutes
in length.
Altar Guild
This organization’s general tasks include cleaning the Sanctuary,
setting up for Holy Communion, caring for the linens, paraments and
vessels used in worship, and arranging altar flowers.
Baptism
The Sacrament of Holy Baptism is held during regular worship services.
Parents should contact the church office to make arrangements. A
preparatory appointment will be made with one of the pastors to review the
teachings of Baptism, the service itself, and the responsibilities of
parents and sponsors. A brochure which further describes Baptism at St.
Timothy's, is available in the church entryway and in the church office.
Christmas Eve
Five worship services are held on Christmas Eve; 3:00, 5:00, 7:00, 9:00
and 11:00 pm. All are traditional Candlelight Services, with the 5:00 &
7:00 services being more contemporary in musical style.
Communion
Holy Communion is ordinarily celebrated on the first and third
Saturdays and Sundays of the month, and on the Christian festival days of
Ash Wednesday and Maundy Thursday. At St. Timothy's we practice open
communion, meaning that all who have received instruction in its meaning
and who believe in the real presence of Christ in the bread and wine, are
invited to receive the sacrament. Homebound members are urged to contact
the pastors to bring the Sacrament to them at a convenient time.
Easter and Holy Week
St. Timothy's observes Holy Week with special services, beginning with
PALM SUNDAY. MAUNDY THURSDAY provides two communion opportunities; the
“White Breakfast” at 7:00 am, for the women of St. Timothy's, and a 7:30
pm worship service for the whole congregation. GOOD FRIDAY is observed by
the Day School at an 11:30 am service which they conduct, as well as by
the entire congregation at 7:30 pm.
The congregation celebrates EASTER, the resurrection of our Lord, with
three services: 8:00, 9:30 and 11:00 am.
Lent
Lenten services begin with a 7:30 ASH WEDNESDAY Communion service, and
continue with services each Wednesday at 7:30 pm until Holy Week. The
services are designed for the whole family, and are approximately
forty-five minutes long.
Memorial Services and Funerals
These services may be performed for members or non-members of St.
Timothy's. The pastors wish to be as involved as much as they are needed
by individuals and families during times of serious illness and
bereavement. Services may be performed at the church, a cemetery, in
private homes or other institutions (such as nursing homes), as the
conditions warrant.
Thanksgiving Eve
One worship service is held at 7:30 pm. The offering is given to the
ELCA's World Hunger program.
Visitations
The pastors are in touch with and/or personally visit all our
hospitalized and other shut-ins at least once a month. Please keep the
pastors informed of any visitation needs you become aware of, so no one is
overlooked.
Weddings
Those wishing to be married at St. Timothy's should contact the Church
Office, and arrange to speak with one of the pastors. Premarital
Counseling is available. Non-member weddings are ordinarily performed for
couples desiring to make St. Timothy's their home church, or who make a
commitment to be involved in another church. Supervision of all weddings
and receptions held at St. Timothy's is done by our Wedding Consultant.
After first speaking with one of the pastors, persons planning a wedding
meet with the Wedding Consultant to discuss procedures, policies and fees.
Worship Assistants
A number of members participate in the worship services at St.
Timothy's. Opportunities for service include Acolytes, Communion
Assistants, Greeters, Readers, Musicians, Sound Board Operators, and
Ushers. Others who support our services participate in Altar Guild,
Nursery Care and Coffee Service.
